BERRIMA THE MAGISTRATES HOUSE Offers invited Situated right in the heart of Berrima, on half an acre extending to the Wingecarribee River, this grand old stone house was built c.1840. Magistrates were in residence in the 1880s but subsequently the house was used as a school c.1900. In 1925 the house was restored by the Brown sisters. Extensive stone flagging paves much of the rear garden close to the house marking the location of earlier out-buildings. Described by Philip Cox, one of Australia’s leading architects as “….a magnificent low-slung vernacular home….” The home is now in very good condition with high ceilings, many fireplaces, polished timber floors, updated kitchen and bathroom and is currently used as weekend accommodation.
